AstraNova Research & Translational Sciences · Launch programme
ACTIVE RESEARCH UNIT · LAUNCH PHASE
An applied research programme examining supply dependencies, shortage risks and continuity considerations for a clearly defined group of medicines.
This programme forms part of the unit’s launch agenda. Each project proceeds through defined scientific, resourcing, data-access and governance gates before research execution.
RESEARCH FOCUS
Map dependencies across selected medicines, sources and manufacturing stages using available evidence.
Distinguish documented supply facts from estimates and analytical assumptions.
Explore disruption scenarios and practical continuity options.
Translate findings into decision briefs for institutional procurement and supply planning.
INITIAL PROJECT BRIEF
Which evidenced dependencies and supply constraints most affect a selected basket of essential medicines, and what proportionate continuity measures merit further assessment?
Transparent medicine selection, source mapping, evidence grading and scenario analysis. The project protocol defines scope, geographic coverage and data access before analysis begins.
An evidence-graded supply-dependency map
A vulnerability assessment with confidence levels
An institutional continuity briefing and research limitations
EVIDENCE & LIMITATIONS
Research estimates do not confirm current product availability or predict a shortage with certainty. This programme is distinct from the Medicines Security Institute’s independent policy work.
Each project should define oversight, data permissions, any required approvals, analysis methods, validation needs and publication arrangements. Completed results and confirmed partnerships will be identified in the unit’s publication and collaboration records.
A CONSIDERED CONVERSATION
For research institutions, computational scientists, medicines-security specialists and qualified medicines-safety researchers.
